# Aegis Legend 5, what the mod owes to the Legend line

> The Aegis Legend 5 by Geekvape read as a high-end object. Finish, published toughness tests, the AS 4.0 chip and its lineage from the Legend 2 and 3.

Can a mod sold on toughness claim a place at the top of the market? The question comes up the moment you pick up the **Aegis Legend 5** from Geekvape. There is no rare leather or stabilised wood here, only a chassis that claims to shrug off water, drops and dust, an in-house chip and a name in use since 2018. What does a demanding buyer actually get, and how much of it is inherited from the line rather than earned by this model?

## Aegis Legend 5, premium toughness rather than luxury

The **Aegis Legend 5** is the fourth mod in Geekvape's Legend line, after the original Legend of 2018, the Legend 2 (also sold as the L200) and the Legend 3. It runs on two external 18650 batteries, fires from 5 to 200 W, relies on the AS 4.0 chip and carries an IP68 rating against water and dust.

Its premium character has nothing to do with precious materials. It rests on toughness backed by published test figures, on electronics already proven in the previous generation and on a lineage Geekvape has kept alive model after model. That is the reading offered here, built only on documents the brand itself publishes.

## From the 2018 Legend to the Legend 5, a documented lineage

Geekvape has published enough to trace the line on its own site, with a Legend versus Legend 2 comparison and a three-way showdown between the Legend 5, the Legend 3 and the L200. Each generation fixes or shifts something, and that thread explains the reputation of the latest model.

### The original Legend sets the waterproof standard

In Geekvape's table, the 2018 Legend has an IP67 rating, a 0.91 inch OLED screen, USB charging and a 201.2 g mod. Its modes cover power, temperature control (nickel, titanium, stainless steel and TCR), a VPC curve and Bypass. The brand itself notes one flaw, a battery door that was a little hard to close.

### The Legend 2 moves to IP68 and loses weight

The 2021 Legend 2 steps up to IP68, adopts USB-C under a flip cover and a 1.08 inch TFT screen. Above all, the mod drops to 143.3 g, about 29 per cent lighter than the first Legend, where Geekvape rounds it to 30 per cent. It introduces the A-Lock slider and pairs brushed metal trim with leather on the side and a silicone top cap and base. A later L200 Classic variant, in zinc alloy, takes two 21700 batteries.

### The Legend 3 tries another lock and a memory

The Legend 3 brings in the AS 4.0 chip, swaps the A-Lock for a Smart Lock with three locking settings and adds a Memory mode that stores up to five favourite settings. Its screen shrinks to 0.96 inch. A Carrera Edition in aluminium alloy stretches the range to 230 W, while the regular editions stay at 200 W.

### The Legend 5 returns to the slider and keeps the chip

The Legend 5 keeps the AS 4.0, goes back to the 1.08 inch screen and the A-Lock slider. Its spec sheet lists five modes, Eco, Smart, Normal, Custom and temperature control, and no longer mentions Memory. It reads as a synthesis of the earlier generations rather than a break with them.

## What Geekvape actually measures on the Aegis Legend 5

This is the most useful point for anyone paying for toughness. The official page for the **Aegis Legend 5** shows three tests, each with its source.

The IP68 water resistance is given as 1.5 m of depth for 30 minutes, and the IP6X dust rating as 120 minutes, both credited to a test report from the TCT laboratory. Shock resistance is described as 1.4 m drops repeated 25 times, with a different source, since that figure is credited to Geekvape's own lab.

The general page the brand devotes to IP68 across the Aegis range talks about 2 metre drops. The two figures do not necessarily clash, but they do not describe the same test. For a demanding buyer, the figure to keep is the most precise and best sourced one, 1.4 m repeated 25 times, measured in house.

## Racing and Regular finishes, what the hand notices

Geekvape offers the mod in two editions. The Racing Edition covers Turbo Red and Racing Gold, the Regular Edition six colours, from Carbon Black to Glacier Green. The brand claims a design inspired by the Nürburgring circuit, a laser-etched metal chassis and a textured grip designed for a secure hold.

The colour screen is framed by light strips whose effect and brightness can be set from the menu. On a mod of this standing, these surface details are what separate an object from a utility shell, far more than the maximum output, which has sat at 200 W on the regular editions since 2018.

For its tenth anniversary, Geekvape produced an edition called Everest Sunrise, with a map of Everest engraved on the body and a gold and silver frame. It was handed out as a prize in a competition run by the brand, which makes it a collector's piece rather than a catalogue item.

At the other end of the premium segment, [the Lost Vape Centaurus M200](/uk/centaurus-m200/) makes the opposite choice, an aluminium body with no claimed water rating and electronics limited to power adjustment.

## AS 4.0 electronics, inherited rather than new

The AS 4.0 chip is not new to the Legend 5, since the Legend 3 already carried it. Geekvape describes it as a buck-boost chip, able to raise or lower the voltage, and credits it with a list of protections running from the 10 second cut-off to overheating, short circuit, over-current and dry firing.

Two lines of the spec sheet deserve attention. The Legend 5 states a resistance range of 0.1 to 2 ohms, where the Legend 2 and the Legend 3 accepted up to 3 ohms. And the product page talks about a 0.01 second firing time, while the page devoted to the chip mentions a response time below 0.8 seconds, without saying what each figure measures.

## Who the Aegis Legend 5 makes sense for

It suits anyone who wants a dual-battery mod that does not need to be treated gently, and who accepts electronics that often choose the power range for them. Smart and Eco start from the resistance they read, and only Custom opens fully manual control. A vaper looking for a showpiece will look instead at leather or wood finishes.

Two 18650 batteries also mean managing a pair, charged and replaced together. The number of cycles to expect from them has nothing to do with the mod, it is printed on the battery maker's spec sheet, and that is the figure to enter in the battery rotation calculator on our home page, counting two batteries per recharge.

## FAQ

Five points the Legend 5 spec sheet raises without quite answering, read against the documents Geekvape publishes.

### How does the Legend 5 differ from the L200 Classic?

The L200 Classic is a reworked Legend 2 in zinc alloy, built for two 21700 batteries with 18650 adapters in the box and fitted with a Boost mode. The Legend 5 stays on two 18650 cells, with the AS 4.0 chip and a screen of the same size.

### Can I fit an atomiser above 2 ohms?

The official spec sheet stops the mod's range at 2 ohms. Beyond that, nothing in Geekvape's documentation describes how the device behaves, so it is better to choose a mod whose spec sheet covers the value you have in mind.

### Do the Racing colours change anything on the mod?

No, the spec sheet is shared by all eight colours. The Racing editions stand out through their red or gold trim and the Racing Edition marking shown on the official images.

### What tank capacity does the UK kit come with?

Geekvape lists 5.5 ml for the standard version, 7 ml with an optional glass and 2 ml for the TPD version, which is the one that fits UK rules capping refillable tanks at 2 ml. Depending on the edition, the kit ships with the Z Sub-Ohm Tank 2021 or the Z Sub-Ohm Tank 5, and nicotine e-liquid to fill it is sold in 10 ml bottles of up to 20 mg/ml here.

### Which coil comes fitted in the kit?

The two official pages disagree. Geekvape's online shop lists a Z 0.15 ohm XM rated for 70 to 85 W, the packaging sheet a Z 0.2 ohm XM Boost version rated for 70 to 80 W. The spare coil is the same in both cases, a Z 0.4 ohm XM rated for 50 to 60 W.

## Aegis Legend 5, a faithful heir to its line

The Legend 5 does not reinvent the Legend. It takes the chip of the Legend 3, the slider of the Legend 2 and an output unchanged since 2018, and puts the effort into the Racing trim and into toughness tests that come with figures and a named source.

Whoever picks the Aegis Legend 5 is paying above all for that consistency of lineage and that openness about testing, more than for innovation. It is a useful reminder for all premium kit, where the value of a model often lies in what it inherits.
